Advanced Critical Care Echocardiography Course

Endorsed by the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) and the Intensive Care Society (ICS).

Approved for 4 Accreditation Points by BSE and 14 CPD Points by the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland.

Start Learning

Who Should Attend?

Doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals interested in focused cardiac ultrasound.

Clinicians preparing for the BSE Level 1 accreditation or ICS FUSIC Heart accreditation.

ICU, ED, anaesthesia, and acute care staff looking to develop practical echocardiography skills.

Course Overview

The Advanced Critical Care Echocardiography (ACCE) Course is a two-day hybrid programme supporting individuals pursuing EDEC, FUSIC HD, BSE Level 1, and BSE ACCE pathways.

Participants should have basic echocardiography experience (≥20 basic scans performed).

The ACCE Course adopts a flipped classroom model:

Online pre-course homework delivers foundational knowledge.

In-person course days focus on supervised scanning, image interpretation, and practical clinical application.

Completion of the online homework is highly recommended but not mandatory for Certificate of Attendance issuance.

Key Features:

Hands-on transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) on live models.

Interactive lectures and clinical case discussions.

Structured teaching towards BSE TTE Level 2 and TOE minimum datasets.

Hands-on transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) on high-fidelity simulators.

Online pre-course homework modules.

Small group teaching with high faculty-to-learner ratio.
